This is a varied and stimulating course that will introduce you to the world of work in the field of Art and Design.  The course is one year long and will enable you to participate in a wide range of practical activities working independently as well as experiencing working in a team.  Topics you will cover include:


75% of the qualification is delivered as coursework and is devised by teachers in the department to meet the needs of our learners.  This is internally marked and externally moderated.

25% of the qualification is externally set, internally marked and externally moderated

Lessons are mostly practical with the addition of presentations and discussions about the work of artists/designers relevant to the current area of study.  Individual tutorials and regular feedback ensure that you are supported in your learning and you make good progress.  There is an opportunity to visit a local exhibition during the course of the year, as well as school visits by local practitioners who will come into your lessons to share their expertise.


Studying BTEC Art and Design at Level 2 can lead to Level 3 Art and Design college courses as well as A levels if you achieve a distinction.  This course is an excellent introduction to working in the Art and Design industry.



Entry Requirements:

You should have enthusiasm for art and good organisational skills. Ideally you will have a GCSE or ELC in an Art and Design subject, Media or a relevant Design & Technology subject
