This course enables you to broaden your study of mathematics.

AS Further Maths involves studying 3 alternative modules to those taken for A-level Maths: Further Pure Maths, and two chosen from Mechanics 1, Mechanics 2, Decision Maths 1, Decision Maths 2. If approved, students can study AS Further Maths in Y13 following successful Y12 work in AS Maths. We take advantage of the Further Maths Support Programme who offer online teaching for some of the units. Each module is assessed via a 90 minute written examination.

Any student planning to take a mathematics-rich degree (Engineering, Sciences, Computing, Finance/Economics, as well as Mathematics itself) will benefit enormously from taking Further Mathematics at least to AS level, and will find the transition to degree level work easier as a result.

Entry Requirements:

A minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade A*-C, ideally including English, and Mathematics at grade A or above.
