The Angmering Sixth Form is delighted and excited to be introducing a new and exciting course provided by RSL for Sixth Form students in 2021. The Diploma or Extended Diploma in Creative and Performing Arts is designed to provide a vocationally-relevant education in performing aimed at students who wish to take part in more practically based work. Teachers from all three of the performing arts disciplines (Dance, Drama and Music) will be responsible for delivering this course.
With pathways for dancers, actors, musicians and technicians, these qualifications cover a variety of sectors within the performing arts industry, allowing learners to put their talent at the forefront.
COURSE CONTENT AND ASSESSMENT
This course is made up from a selection of Units. For the Diploma, you will need a minimum of 7 units, for the Extended diploma, you will need a minimum of 13. You will complete compulsory units as well as units you select, suiting your ambitions and desires. Year 12 will aim to cover a minimum of 7 units with Year 13 completing a further 6. Units range in content exploring all elements of performance. Once a unit is completed it will be assessed and graded by teachers with additional external moderation for compulsory units. Assessments will usually consist of an exploration/study, performance and working notebook.
The RSL Diploma/extended Diploma is aimed at learners who are interested in learning about the performing arts sector alongside other fields of study, with a view to progressing to a wide range of higher education courses or employment. The nature of the structure of this course prepares students adequately for vocational training or employment in the Performing arts, however will equally equip students with skills and knowledge to move forward in public services.
Grade 5 or above in one or more Performing Arts qualifications (Dance/Drama/Music) and grade 5 or above in English.
